SCUBA ADVANCED MARINE EXPLORATION
July 24 - 30 (Br. Salman & Br. Nadim Crews)
Both crews will be on the same boat!
The adventure will be taking place on our 46ft. Newton dive boat Shadowfax II. This vessel is the sixth and newest addition to our dive boat fleet. Your unit will be staying in air-conditioned dormitories in between dive trips and activities. For this program Sea Base will be joining forces with the Coral Restoration Foundation (CRF), an organization dedicated to saving our planet’s coral reefs. It is planned for your crew to spend two days with CRF, one day working with their coral nursery, and the second day planting corals. Please remember that all activities in any SCUBA Adventure are weather dependent.
Prior to working with CRF, your crew will participate in the PADI Advanced Open Water course. Sea Base will provide all materials and certification fees for this course. Your scouts and adults will gain experience in both compass and natural navigation, night diving techniques, buoyancy skills and a deep dive (to 60 ft) to earn the Advanced certification. Another section of this program will give your scouts the ability to earn the WOSM S.C.E.N.E. Award. You will be participating in evening presentations that include Reef Fish Identification, Dive Against Debris, and Shark Awareness. The service projects for your S.C.E.N.E. Award will consist of a REEF Fish count and Dive Against Debris on all dives.
